Universidade Do Porto
The research group CEFT – Transport Phenomena Research Center of the faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP) is organized in 3 subgroups: Energy, Multiphase Flows and Biological Fluids and Microfluidics and Complex Fluids Flows. In the Energy field it has a great experience working on Fuel Cell area (modelling and experimental studies, macro and micro scale), namely Direct Methanol and Ethanol Fuel Cells , PEM Fuel Cells, PEM Electrolysers and Regenerative Fuel cells, Microbial Fuel Cells (MFC) and Hydrogen generators and storage systems comprising Chemical Hydrides.
FEUP is the largest faculty of UPORTO. In the FP7 was partner or coordinator in 48 projects, including as host of two ERC Grants. In Horizon 2020, is partner in 14 funded projects and coordinator of 3 other. In Interreg–Atlantic Area, was coordinator of 2 and partner in 2. FEUP works closely with several respected institutions such as the European Space Agency (ESA), IBM, Microsoft and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).
The role of the energy group of CEFT, coordinated by Alexandra Pinto in the HYLANTIC project is to provide expertise to the Green H2 production via PEM electrolysis of water namely modelling tools for system optimization, the design of a safe H2 storage prototype using chemical hydrides and in providing Numerical Models producing simulations of the safety on H2 generation, storage, delivery and use.
